Appreciation And Blessings

Appreciation And Blessings
We find that our lives are hectic; we're busy with school, work and volunteering and there are so many things and people that we take for granted. We just don't take time to appreciate the things that we do for each other in our home, at work, at school. So I had an idea that I would have my children write down some of the things that they are thankful for.
We used the 30-minute commute time to school everyday to talk about things. I had the children write down on a piece of paper "Things I Am Thankful For". My oldest child said she didn't have time to do this; she was too busy with school, etc. But once we started to talk about the little day to day things that we were thankful for, the flood gates opened and she could not stop talking about it and we talked all the way to school. They talked about being thankful for their health, their schoolwork, having really good friends.

It was a really great experience. I think we all lose the details in life and get caught up in day-to-day routines and overlook the little things in life that without them we would be lost. There are a lot of things we have to be thankful for and wanted my children to realize this.
