"First" Day For Kids

"First" Day For Kids

I decided since my kids were always arguing about who was going to be "first" to do something, like watching a video, or even taking a bath, that I would institute a "first" day. I determined that on odd days my son would be first, and on even days my daughter would be first. So now there’s no argument, because each child has a "first" day on a regular basis.

They bought into it right away. It really minimizes arguments. They even ask each other "what day is it, odd or even?" They make deals with each other and negotiate with each other. They have chores assigned to them and the person whose "first" day it is, has to clean out the litter box for the kitten and sweep the kitchen. The person whose first day it isn’t, gets to feed the animals and wipe the tables down.

To solve the dispute of months with 31 or 29 days, that’s "mom’s first day". I’ve been doing this with them for about 2 years now.
