Veggies for Breakfast

Several months ago in an effort to get my 21 months old daughter to eat her vegetables, I decided to camouflage them in a way that she didn't know what she was eating. She always liked her oatmeal in the mornings and I had started putting a little bit of grape jelly in there for sweetness and cinnamon and raisins which she also liked. So I thought why not try vegetables in her oatmeal, since it was a dark color anyway which would cover up the look of the vegetables.

I steamed zucchini and squash, so they wouldn't be crunchy and chopped them up really fine and mixed them in her oatmeal. She loved it! It seems the more vegetables I put in her oatmeal, the more she likes it! I'd like to try some broccoli and cauliflower, things that I know that are rich in vitamins and other nutrients, until she realizes what she is eating.

Once she learns that there is something else in her oatmeal, I'll start telling her "this is what you were eating for breakfast, why don't you try it without all this other stuff in it?"
