Toddlers Making Choices

I had a horrible time trying to get my toddlers dressed, but now I let them choose what they want to wear and they are enthusiastic about it. The only problem was when they started having "favorite clothes" that they didn't want to take them off again, so I had to explain about how the clothes had to be washed and go through the washing process with them so they could see how this worked and understand that they could wear these clothes again once they were dry. When they have visual confirmation, they are less likely to whine.

Getting dressed is now a nice, quick process, even if some of their outfits are hilarious. I also let them make choices about what snacks they want during the day by offering 2 or 3 different fruits for them to pick from, as opposed to asking if they'd like an apple and them saying they'd rather have a biscuit.
