Managing Baby Care

I was a teacher when my first daughter was born. My husband and I were very independent people, and we were adjusting to the life of having a new daughter and we absolutely loved being parents. I was focusing on everything around my daughter, and therefore wasn't allowing any time for myself. Also, my husband wanted to be a part of the daily routine of rearing our daughter.

So, we developed a plan of taking turns caring for the baby. Every other night, my husband would take care of all her needs...bathe her, sing her a lullaby, everything that she needed after dinner... would be his responsibility. This gave me time to do other things that I needed and wanted to do.

When our other child was born, we would simply alternate between one of us taking care of the baby, and the other taking care of the toddler. We had a very set routine, which made bedtime very easy.
